Cloud Gaming Services

5 Best Cloud Gaming Services | Check Out the List

Cloud gaming services allow you to play PC and console games from any device, no matter how low-powered your hardware is. Cloud gaming promises that you will not have to worry about patches, updates, or other technical issues. The dream has become a reality, with streaming games becoming a reality.

Cloud gaming has made great strides since 2018. Although there is no guarantee of a smooth, consistent experience with cloud gaming, it is getting to the point where you can just sit down and play without worrying about glitches.

There are still network issues, but Wi-Fi 6E, 6E, and 5G mobile services have helped to smoothen them. However, it’s not an ideal option if you live or travel to areas with poor connectivity, or if your broadband prices are prohibitive.

From a gamer’s point of view, however, there are only four options that are dedicated to gaming.

Of the four, Xbox and GFN deliver on their promises, while Luna does have its high points. PlayStation Plus Premium only works on PCs, and that is not a PlayStation machine. Google Stadia was a strong platform with strong technology. However, Google seemed more interested in making money than providing a service to consumers as demonstrated by its sudden shutdown of Stadia in September.

Both of the top options are totally different. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate streams game from the subscription library. GeForce Now streams your games, provided they are supported. They can complement each other if you have a large library and can afford it.

Xbox Game Pass Cloud Gaming

Xbox Game Pass offers something for all gamers, making it an excellent option for many gamers. Although the feature is still in beta, it offers robust cloud gaming through the $15 per-month Game Pass Ultimate subscription (with a $1 promo price for your first month). It can stream to any device using dedicated apps (PCs, Android phones, TVs, and Chromebooks), as well as the Game Pass perks.

Nearly 500 games are available in the library, including almost 400 that can be played via the cloud. EA Play also supports cloud play for a number of its games. It is one of the most cloud-capable libraries. Game Pass includes some Xbox Game Studios games. Microsoft plans to add support later in the year to allow you access to your Xbox Game Studios games via the cloud if you haven’t already.

Some features, like the annoying “play with touch”, feel like they are still in beta. As with all libraries, games change and come back sometimes. It is also limited to 1080p at 60fps.

Nvidia GeForce Now

It’s an excellent choice for gamers with large game libraries who want to enjoy them in more places. GeForce Now is different from other providers because it allows you to play games that you have already purchased. It is compatible with Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, as well as launchers for Ubisoft Connect, Origin, and Ubisoft Connect. Nvidia doesn’t require you to buy a specific version of a particular game or to stream games from a subscription.

It works via an app and a web browser on Android, Windows and Mac OS, Chromebooks, Chrome, Safari (for iPad, iPhone), Edge web browsers, and some TVs natively. All TVs via Nvidia Shield. It can also be used on other devices, such as the Xbox and Valve Steam Deck, by using a browser.

Pricing starts at $10 per hour for basic streaming 1080p for hour-long sessions. After six months, it goes up to $20 per month ($16.70 for six months upfront) for all perks including streaming up to 4K/60fps HDR or 1440p/120fps 8-hour sessions, Ray Tracing, priority server access, and access to the most powerful servers.

Now.gg

You can use Now.gg to access mainstream games such as Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft. You’re good to go if you have a Chrome browser and a stable Wi-Fi connection.

This is especially useful when you are using school devices, such as tablets and laptops, where some installations are blocked. You can also avoid being caught by administrators or other users because it can be played directly through the browser. The now.gg Roblox platform offers a smoother gaming experience.

Users have also reported a significant reduction in storage space and battery power. Access to a variety of user-generated games is also possible. It’s easy to access online, so it’s similar to the installed version.

How Now.gg Works

Now.gg works by using your computer’s resources to run the game in the cloud instead of on your device. This means that you can play any game without having to worry about downloading or installing it. All you need is a Chrome browser and a stable Wi-Fi connection

The Pros

There are several advantages to using Now.gg instead of traditional methods of playing games. It enhances the gaming experience ranging from now.gg Minecraft to Fortnite and whatnot! First, you don’t have to worry about downloading or installing anything. Second, you can play any game on any device as long as it has a Chrome browser and a stable Wi-Fi connection. Third, you don’t have to worry about compatibility issues since all games are played in the cloud. Finally, you’ll have access to the latest versions of games as soon as they’re released since they’ll be updated in the cloud automatically.

The Cons

There are a few disadvantages to using Now.gg as well. First, you’ll need a stable Wi-Fi connection to play games smoothly. If your connection is not stable, you may experience lag or other issues. Second, you may not be able to play some games if they’re not compatible with Chrome browsers or if their servers are down for maintenance. Finally, you won’t be able to play offline since all games are played in the cloud.

PlayStation Plus Premium

It’s the oldest service, launched by Sony in 2014 and then purchased the assets of OnLive 2015 in 2015. You’d expect that Sony would have expanded its capabilities. It relaunched with a tiered plan model in June 2022. The service included a large selection of older titles as well as a refreshed version of PS Now. This plan is $18 per month ($10 per year if you pay annually).

Non-console cloud gaming is only available for PCs. It’s only available for a subset of the catalog (all PS4 or older games), via an application. It doesn’t offer some of the service’s desirable features, like the limited-time demos or day-one availability.

You can stream games to your console, just like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s Cloud Gaming.

Amazon Luna

Amazon Luna, which is less than two years old, has grown rapidly since its launch. However, it appears that it doesn’t get much love from its parent company. Although it’s almost impossible to find Amazon Luna on their site, you will see many promotions for the optional Luna Controller. To play Luna games, you don’t have to use Amazon’s controller. However, the controller can be connected directly to your WiFi network to provide the lowest latency.

It can be used via an app (PC/Mac, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet), or a browser (PC/Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android smartphone).

It has a wide range of kid-friendly titles, and it offers a lot of parental control over what the kids can and can’t do. Prime Gaming is also integrated, giving you access to time-limited perks and freebies, as well as integrated streaming via Twitch. It comes with a Prime subscription, so if you are already a member, you don’t really lose anything.

However, it can quickly become expensive. This service is modeled on Prime Video. Prime members have access to the base games as well as the Luna Plus channel. This is basically the core games library that contains a little over 120 games. You can also subscribe separately to Luna Plus for $10 per month and get a seven-day trial. These are mostly older titles and don’t include many AAA games.

The rest of the cost comes in add-on channels. These include retro ($5 per month), family ($6 per month), Jackbox Games ($5 per month), and Ubisoft Plus ($18 a month for less than 40 games). The monthly cost for Prime members can be anywhere from $10 to $44. Quality is at its highest at 1080p or 60fps.

You can’t purchase individual games to be able to continue playing them locally or via the cloud (like StadiaPro), unlike other services.
