The character Motu Patlu was created by Vijay Anand in the year 1967, who also directed the series. He started working as an assistant director with Bollywood director Vijay Anand, who later became his mentor. He also worked as a screenwriter in many of his films.
In fact, he was the one who conceived the idea of making a cartoon series based on his original characters. In the year 1977, he started working on this project and came out with a full-fledged series called Motu Patlu (the name of two characters). The first episode was released on 30th November 1979 and went on to become immensely popular among children all over India.

Motu Patlu Cake is a cake made especially for Motu Patlu fans. It is made using sugar, flour and other ingredients. The cake is prepared in many different ways by different people. The ingredients used in this recipe are given below:
Sugar: 1 cup
All-purpose flour: 2 cups
Baking powder: ½ tsp
Salt: ¼ tsp
Eggs: 2 nos.
Milk: 1 cup
Motu patlu photo cake is a very delicious and easy to make cake. It is made with simple ingredients. Motu patlu cake is a light and fluffy cake with a sweet taste.
1. Take a bowl, add besan, rice flour, vanilla essence and mix everything nicely. Add little water at a time and make a smooth dough of it. Do not add too much water as it will make your cake oily. Make sure that there are no lumps in the mixture. Keep aside for 15 minutes.
2. Now grease your baking tin with ghee and preheat your oven at 180°C for 10 minutes before placing the tin inside. Put the dough on top of the greased tin and press it evenly using your hands or back of a spoon so that it sticks well to the sides of the tin without falling off while baking in oven. It should be thick enough to hold its shape when baked but not too thick like a brownie or cake as we do not want any cracks in between layers while cutting once done baking.
How to make Motu Patlu cake:
To make the sponge, mix all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
Then add the butter and whisk until combined. Pour into an 18cm/7in round cake tin lined with baking parchment and bake for 30-35 mins or until a skewer comes out clean. Leave to cool for 5 mins then remove from tin and place on wire rack.
To make the frosting, beat the butter until soft then add the icing sugar in batches until fully combined. Add food colouring (if using), vanilla extract and milk then beat until light and fluffy. Spread over top of cooled sponge, place in fridge for at least 30 mins or until set.

To make the chocolate ganache, melt butter in a pan over low heat then add chocolate chips and stir constantly until melted and smooth. Remove from heat & leave to cool slightly before pouring over top of cake!
